Two years ago when I registered for the first ride, Conquer Cancer trainers handed me the "suggested training guidelines" given below.
So, I developed a training plan at the gym as recommended in the guidelines. However, a plan for Training Rides was a different story.
The cold weather pretty much prevented me from riding my bike. So, I signed up for spinning classes one day a week from January to the end of May.
For me it was a life style change. I lost significant weight and by June, I was ready for the ride.
This year I invested in the Tacx NEO trainer.
This allows me to use my bike to train indoors. Tacx - the manufacturer of the trainer - has an excellent computer program with training plans and numerous
GPS rides synchronized with video of the routes to be used with PCs/Mac and phones. These virtual rides are great. It's like being on-site.
This is my commitment and the commitment of every rider who takes on the Enbridge Conquer Cancer Ride.
Like every other cyclist,
I use Strava to track my outdoor rides. It is a wonderful tool. It collects the data and summarizes the results at the end of the year.
Below is one of their video summaries for me. Check it out, if you like.
